Cole says his best playing years are yet to come

By Super Admin

London, Apr 25 (ANI): Joe Cole, who battled back from injury, has insisted that he will reach his peak in the next four years.

The England hopeful admitted that dark thoughts entered his mind when he was recovering from his ligament injury and even feared his career could have been over.

But having regained full fitness, Cole is now gunning for the title at Chelsea.

Cole is a free agent at the end of the season and he has yet to sign a new deal at Stamford Bridge, with title rivals Manchester United said to be watching developments, News of the World reports.

"My best years are going to be the next four years, I think. I don't rely on pace, I keep myself fit and look after myself," Cole said.

His future at the club has been under scrutiny ever since he returned from the serious injury he picked up playing for Chelsea in the FA Cup at Southend in 2009.

Cole said his rehabilitation was difficult but is now focused on capping his comeback in the ultimate style by winning the Double.

"During my injury there were those bad thoughts that cropped up in my mind but now I am back and just concentrating on playing well. It's now the business end of the season and I am in form. The main thing is that the club wins some trophies this year." (ANI)
