Police had inputs about Babri demolition: Gupta
Rae Bareli, Apr 23: A senior IPS officer, who was the personal security officer of BJP leader LK Advani in Ayodhya, informed the court on Friday, Apr 23, that the Faizabad Police had intelligence inputs about the possible attempts to demolish Babri Masjid on Dec 6, 1992.

Anju Gupta, a 1990 batch IPS officer, during a cross-examination by the defence in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Gulab Singh, said that she was present in the meeting convened by Inspector General of Police, Faizabad, AK Saran on Dec 5, a day before demolition of the Masjid.

In response to a specific queries by the defence, Gupta said Saran began the 40-45 minute meeting with the reference to the intelligence inputs about threats being at two levels.

She said that the inputs suggested that inputs informed about possible attack on the disputed structure by the people gathered there and the operatives of Pakistan's ISI making use of the situation to disturb law and order situation.

On Mar 26, Gupta during her deposition before the Special CBI Court said that Advani had made provocative speeches in Ayodhya minutes before the demolition of the mosque by Sangh Parivar activists.
