Maoists open fire at five CRPF camps in Dantewada
Raipur, Apr 21: Two weeks after the Dantewada massacre, Maoists struck again opening fire near five Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camps on Tuesday, Apr 20 night.
Even though no casualties were reported in the incident, the firing triggered panic among the troopers. The CRPF jawans retaliated to bullets of the ultras.
The Maoists targeted five CRPF camps in Chintagufa, Errabore, Pollampalli, Bhejji and Kankerlanka, all of which are located in the Dantewada district.
In a bid to track down the guerrillas who launched the latest attack, Chhattisgarh police squads entered the forests in the wee hours of Wednesday, Apr 21.
“The cops sneaked into Maoist dominated forested pockets in Dantewada in the wee hours to track down the insurgents who opened fire near five CRPF camps and then vanished into thick forests Tuesday night," Inspector General of Police TJ Longkumer is quoted as saying in a news agency report.
This comes exactly two weeks after the Apr 6 attack in which 76 lives of CRPF jawans and police personnel were lost.
