Brit woman stabbed to death by jilted lover

London, Apr 20: A thirty five-year-old, British woman was stabbed to death and her right eyeball was gouged out by her jealous ex-boyfriend.

Katie Cullen, who was working as a nurse at the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, was stabbed 130 times on the face and neck by Iranian-born Iman Ghaefelipour in Cheshire, a local media reported.

Ghaefelipour was reportedly angry with Cullen for dumping him after he had stolen more than 3,000 pounds from her bank account.

He attacked Cullen with a knife following futile attempts to win her back.

After stabbing her 130 times, 28-year-old Ghaefelipour gouged out her right eye and tried to sever her right hand with the knife.

The assailant has been sentenced to a jail term of minimum of 23 years after he confessed to the crime before Manchester Crown Court.

Cullen and Ghaelfelipour began dating in 2008. They had even considered moving in together when she found out that Ghaefelipour was stealing money from her bank account.

Cullen reported the incident to the police but refrained from pressing charges against him after he assured that he would pay back the money in installments.

On Oct 20 2009, he went to her house on the pretext of discussing about the remaining amount of money.

Few minutes later, neighbours heard a scream and loud noises coming from the house. Ghaefelipour fled from the house and went to hospital where he said he was treated for the cuts to his hands.

Police officers later arrested him when he was boarding a bus.
