New Delhi, Apr 19: Home Minister P Chidambaram said on Monday, Apr 19 that the responsibility for the security lapse in the Dantewada massacre will be fixed right up to his level.
Dismissing the use of army and air force in the naxal affected areas, Chidambaram said that the goverment was examining the possibility of using a special force to supplement the para military forces.
"There is no proposal to use army or air force against naxals," he said.
The use of aircraft for surveillance, logistics and evacuation could be taken into consideration.
Responding to debate in the Rajya Sabha on the Dantewada issue, Chidambaram said "surely action will be taken based on the report" of Ram Mohan committee, which probing the cause which led to the massacre.
Chidambaram said that the preliminary inquiry into the incident showed that it was the outcome of "terrible failure of command and control".
The Home Minister added that the Ram Mohan panel has been asked to "fix responsibility" right from the Assistant Commandant up to the Union Home Minister.
On Apr 13, 76 security personel were killed by the Maoists in Dantewada.
