5.3 magnitude quake rocks Afghan, 7 killed
Kabul, Apr 19: A 5.3-magnitude earthquake rocked Afghanistan in the wee hours of Monday, Apr 19 killing at least 7 people and injuring over 30.
The quake struck at 1 am (local time) in Samangan province, located between Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif.
Province"s deputy governor, Kulam Sakhi Baghlani, said that villages with mud-houses were destroyed in the quake and livestock were also been killed.
The temblor also triggered off landslides, which blocked the roads.
The governor informed that the three civil defence units had been dispatched to assess the situation and take stock of the damage and casualties.
