IPL is the most lucrative tournament for Kiwi stars

By Super Admin

Auckland, Apr 18(ANI): Statistics emerging from the Indian Premier League (IPL) reveals that for the New Zealand cricketers, the tournament has been the most lucrative.

A player in the IPL stands to earn about 25,000 dollars for a six, compared to the match payment of 14,650 dollars New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori, vice-captain Ross Taylor and wicket-keeper Brendon McCullum earned while contracted to New Zealand Cricket for the recent test series against Australia.ast bowler Shane Bond gets 75,000 dollars for a wicket, and Vettori's dot balls are netting 2700 dollars each.

While, Vettori laboured for a measly 23 dollars a ball, less than one percent of what he is earning when he rolls the arm over for the Delhi Daredevils, The New Zealand Herald reports.

The figures also highlights why foreign players confirmed their participation in the tournament despite concerns about their security.

The New Zealand players have contracts ranging from 156,000 dollars to 174,000 dollars with the national board, while with IPL they have contracts ranging from 400,000 dollars to 750,000 dollars. (ANI)
