LS & RS adjourned for the day over Tharoor-IPL row
New Delhi, Apr 16: Both the houses of the Parliament were adjourned for the day on Friday, Apr 16 after the ruckus over the Shashi Tharoor-IPL controversy made it impossible to hold the sessions smoothly.
While Rajya Sabha was adjourned earlier, Lok sabha was adjourned twice before the speaker Meira Kumar was forced to adjourn the house for the day. Both the houses will re-convene on Monday, Apr 19.
After making it impossible for the minister to make his statement, the Opposition members in the Lok Sabha demanded for the resignation of the Minister of State for External Affairs in the wake of the corruption allegations.
Rajya Sabha members also refused to hear what the minister had to say as the Home Minister P Chidamabram who stood up to read two paras from a statement laid by Tharoor in the Lok Sabha was disturbed by the noisy protests.
