Lucknow, Apr 14: On the occasion of Ambedakar Jayanti, political rivals Congress General Secreatary Rahul Gandhi and Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati are getting set for a face-off.
Rahul Gandhi and Uttar Pradesh chief minister are holding rallies at the same venue and at the same time on Wednesday, Apr 14 in Ambedkar Nagar.
The BSP leader and her party thrive on the massive Dalit vote bank in the state and Ambedkar Jayanti is a grand affair for the party.
Rahul's decision to hold a rally is not only being seen as a challenge to Mayawati but is also drawing criticism as the Congress, which claims that it does not indulge in caste-politics seems to be doing just that with this rally.
Tension has already begun as Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Rita Bahugana Joshi has alleged that Rahul Gandhi was not allowed to garland Ambedkar's statue.
Joshi said that Mayawati was holding the rally only to disrupt Rahul Gandhi's rally.
