Murray says not promting friend for Davis Cup captaincy

By Super Admin

London, Apr.13 (ANI): British tennis star Andy Murray, is adamant that he has not been lobbying for Leon Smith, his boyhood coach, to be appointed as the Davis Cup captain.

In the two conversations that Murray had with the Lawn Tennis Association about who should succeed John Lloyd, he never mentioned Smith's name.

And, even though Smith is an old and close friend of his, there are no guarantees that Murray will feature in the next tie, a relegation play-off against Turkey in July.

"Leon's my friend, but I still need to do what's right for me," the Sun quoted Murray, as saying. (ANI)
