Bangalore, Apr 13: The police has arrested 15 people allegedly responsible for the fire that broke out at the Konark Hotel on Residency Road here on Monday, Apr 12.
The arrested include 13 pujaris and two pub owners, state local media reports. The police said that a 'Yagaya', a ritual involving fire, which was being conducted on the terrace of the building led to the fire.
The fire from the 'Yagaya' reportedly spread and broke out into the fire which gutted out the NYX (or NYK's) pub, which is a part of the Konark Hotel.
The fire was sparked off at around 1:45 on Monday, Apr 12 afternoon. The situation was quickly brought under control by the fire and police personnel. No casualties were reported in the mishap.
However, the fire which hit the city again after the Feb 23 Carlton Towers fire has yet again raised concerns on how the fire safety norms are violated in the buildings leading to such mishaps repeatedly occurring.
