Navi Mumbai polls: MNS given a thrashing
Mumbai, Apr 12: Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has reportedly not even bagged a single seat in the Navi Mumbai civic polls.
As per the inputs available currently, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has headed for a clean sweep in the elections for the civic body.
The NCP which is in the ruling coalition with the Congress decided to contest on its own. However, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena contested jointly.
The MNS' thrashing defeat in the Navi Mumbai region is being attributed to the fact that the demographics of the area includes outsiders and call centre employees, who might have been offended by Raj Thackeray's anti-immigrant stand.
The elections for the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) was held on Sunday, Apr 12.
