Young Arsenal players must challenge themselves, their attitudes: Campbell

By Super Admin

London, Apr 11(ANI): Arsenal defender Sol Campbell has sent out a harsh warning to his team-mates following the club's ouster from the Champions League quarterfinal stage.

Campbell agrees with manager Arsene Wenger that players need to focus on winning, rather than enduring more seasons without a trophy.

"Everyone here has to learn and be honest about it. To ask where they want their careers going," The News of The World quoted Campbell, as saying.

"Say that this is the level I want to get to and surpass. But you have to be honest with yourself and say 'I've got to work harder, I've got to understand the game a bit better and realize it is a big world out there and there are a lot of good players out there at big clubs'," he added.

Players need to challenge themselves and their attitudes in order to raise their standards to become a trophy-winning team, he said.

"You can't think you're okay and you're not. You've got to be a very quick learner. This is the level you have got to be at. You've got to look at yourself. This is a different level, but you have got to appreciate what they are doing and raise your level," Campbell said.

"Everyone has to look back at this game and say 'This is a benchmark that we have to get to now'. The game will have taught us a hell of a lot about the team and about the level we are at."

"It's now about how we go on from here. You cannot go away and take nothing from it. It is another level, but you have to look at the game, take stock and learn," he added. (ANI)
