Washington DC, Apr.11 (ANI): Daily commuters are expected to face a difficult time on Monday and Tuesday with police in Washington D.C. introducing major travel restrictions to facilitate movement of VVIP carcades from 47 countries, who are here to attend a nuclear security summit.

World leaders will gather at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center for the two-day summit. The venue of the summit is right in the middle of the two of the District's busiest commuter routes.

The traffic department has restricted movement on these routes from 10 pm on Sunday till 8 pm on Tuesday, The Washington Post reports.

The traffic advisory is likely to put extra burden on other routes, which could result in heavy traffic snarls on roads.

Traffic approaching the square on New York and Massachusetts Avenues is likely to be even slower than normal.

Even metro services would be affected with the Mount Vernon Square Station being closed from 9 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday night. Green and Yellow line trains will be able to pass through the station but won't stop.

Security agencies have put lot of extra security checks throughout the Metrorail system, which will also add to the chaos. Police will be carrying heavy weapons, and specially trained dogs will be present for enhanced security. (ANI)
