TV hosts assault woman during live show

Santa Domingo (Dominican Republic), Apr 10: Enraged at being called homosexuals, three televison hosts assaulted a female presenter during the broadcast of live show on the national network.

According to a statement released by Enrique Crespo, Ali David and Tommy "La Berny" Castillo assaulted Venya Carolina during the airing of a live show for calling them gays.

The incident took place on Wednesday, Apr 7, night on a controversial celebrity talk show "Los DueÑos del Circo," which is co-hosted by the three attackers and woman host named Anaylis CaÑizares.

In a fit of anger Venya Carolina called the men as homosexuals, to which they responded by calling her a prostitute, an alcoholic and a drug addict.

Carolina then hit Crespo and he countered the attack by throwing her onto a sofa, following which she Castillo and David.

The duo threw her to the ground and hit her repeatedly. Later, David and Castillo showed the audience the clumps of hair which they had pulled out of Carolina's head.

The three men have been suspended by the authorities on Friday, Apr 9, for their actions.

They will not be allowed to host radio or television programmes for the next three to six months. The men have to reapply tfor accreditation before resuming their work.

Meanwhile, Carolina, while calling for media supports in her protest against the men, claimed to be a victim of disrespect for her integrity as a woman.

"They beat me in full view of the whole country, who could see on their TV screens how Los DueÑos del Circo dragged me on the floor, stepped on my face and pulled out clumps of my hair," Carolina said.
