Palamu (Jharkhand), Apr 9 (ANI): Police on Thursday arrested six men, including a local journalist after a theft was reported from a temple at Chainpur in Jharkhand's Palamu District.

Impersonating as devotees, the thieves entered the temple and took away all the idols from the priest at gunpoint.

However, just two hours after the theft was reported, officials of both the Palamu police station and the Latehar police station sprung into action and caught the men.

Twenty-six idols made of 'Ashtadhatu', or alloy of eight metals, were recovered.

"From the possession of these six men we recovered the idols about which we had the information...one country-made weapon, some mobile phones and bullets. We then arrested them and interrogation about the mastermind behind the theft is going on," said Kuldeep Dwivedi, Superintendent of Police, Latehar. (ANI)
