Malaysia: Indian gets death for killing 3 children
Johor Baru, Apr 8: A 52-year-old Malaysian Indian has been sent to the gallows for murdering three of his children before attempting suicide along with his daughter.
A High Court on Wednesday, Apr 8 found the man guilty of killing his three children identified as Rudraa Kumar(6), Keseprata (5), and Harini (3) by strangling them in Nov 2004.
The incident came to light when the oldest of the children Revati (14), who was supposed to kill herself along with her father, changed her mind and screamed for help.
"I understand you were under a lot of pressure at that time, but you should have sought another path. The court has no choice but to sentence you to death by hanging," the High Court judge Jeffrey Tan is quoted as saying to the convict identified as P Vellertore.
Vellertore's wife reportedly left him recently alleging that he was an abusive husband.
According to the New Straits Times, Vellertore still claims innocence and has decided to file an appeal against the High court's judgement.
