Mkts end around previous closing values
Mumbai, Apr 6: While the benchmarks hovered around the previous closing values and saw consolidation throughout the session, the broader indices had a good run on Tuesday, Apr 6 as they outperformed.
BSE Sensex ended the day at 17,941.37, up 5.69 points while NSE Nifty closed at 5366.00, down 2.40 points.

Sensex hovering around previous closing value
Sensex was hovering around the previous closing value and is trading rangebound. Selling was seen in technology, pharma and auto companies' shares.
However, metal stocks, realty, capital goods and private power companies' shares turned positive. OCICI Bank, Reliance Communications, Cairn, HDFC, Hero Honda, PNB, Grasim and ACC were supporting the markets.
At 1: 39 pm, BSE Sensex was trading at 17972, up 37 points and NSE Nifty was at 5371, up 3 points. The broader indices were outperforming the benchmarks. BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices gained 0.8 per cent each.
The new entrant, Persistent Systems was trading up 32.77 per cent over its offer price of Rs 310 per share at Rs 411.60.

Mkts continue volatile; profit booking in IT, auto
The markets continue to see volatity led by the index heavyweight Relaince Industries leading the two-way trading. Technology, auto, pharma and metal companies' shares were also witnessing profit booking.
At 11: 53 am, BSE Sensex was trading at 17942, up 7 points and NSE Nifty was at 5363, down 5 points. The broader indices were up 0.5 per cent each.
ONGC, SBI, HDFC Bank, NTPC, Bharti Airtel, Axis Bank and Power Grid Corporation also saw profit booking, while buying interest was seen in capital goods, private power and realty companies' shares along with CICI Bank, Reliance Communications, HDFC and Idea Cellular.

After a day's rally, mkts open on volatile note
After the rally on Monday, Apr 6, the Indian benchmarks have started the day on volatile trade. While Sensex was trading below the 18k mark, Nifty was hovering around 5400 level.
At 9:02 am, BSE Sensex was trading at 17958, up 22 points and NSE Nifty was at 5370, up just 2 points.
DLF, Suzlon Energy, Unitech, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, Reliance Communications, Reliance Capital, Cairn India, Hero Honda, ABB, BHEL and Tata Steel were the fronline gainers in early trade, while Wipro, HCL Tech, Hindalco, ONGC, NTPC, ITC and HDFC Bank slipped.
