Chandigarh, Apr 5 (ANI): Opposition parties in Haryana on Monday asked Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda to drop Home Minister Gopal Kanda from the cabinet for ordering firing on agitating activists.

On Sunday, Kanda allegedly ordered his security men to open fire on agitating Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) activists, who stopped his convoy at Sirsa.

Kunda was caught on camera by a private news channel, while issuing the order.

The INLD had called for a shutdown and its activists were on a sit down demonstration when Kanda arrived and a scuffle ensued.

"At Kanda's instance, our party workers were beaten up during the Sirsa shutdown yesterday. Kanda even went to the extent of ordering his bodyguards to shoot at our activists," said INLD leader Abhay Chautala.

Chautala demanded the registration of a case against Kanda.

"We give 15 days time, till April 18, to the administration to register an FIR against Kanda. If they fail to do so, we will then decide our next course of action," he warned.

Kanda, is one of seven Independent legislators supporting the Hooda-led Congress Government in the state.

Kanda has denied the allegations, terming them false. He alleged that some INLD activists tried to harm him and even made an attempt on his life.

Police have registered cases against some INLD activists on the basis of a complaint given to them by Kanda.(ANI)
