Maoists trigger landmine blast ahead of PC's visit
Midnapore, Apr 3: Sending a clear message to the Center, Maoist triggered a landmine blast the Lalgarh area of West Midnapore district, just ahead of the Home Minister P Chidambaram"s visit.
Police said that the explosive went off when CRPF jawan stepped on it along a roadside in Bamal area.
One CRPF jawan was reportedly injured in the attack.
Security has been tightened in Lalgarh in the wake of Chidambaram's visited to the area on Sunday, Apr 4.
Sources said that around 1,000 CRPF personnel along with special anti-Maoist force have been deployed at Lalgarh, Binpur, Salboni and Goaltore. CRPF intelligence unit from Lalgarh has also been positioned in the area.
Chidambaram is scheduled to meet senior officials from the administration and police in connection to assess the joint operations to eliminate Maoists from the area.
