Sania's heart not Indian, says Bal Thackeray
Mumbai, Apr 2: Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray on Thursday, Apr 2, lashed out at tennis star Sania Mirza for marrying a Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik.
In the party mouthpiece 'Saamna', Thackeray said, "Sania should marry an Indian if she wishes to play for India."
"Sania will not remain an Indian. Had her heart been Indian, it wouldn't have beaten for a Pakistani," Sena chief said.
"After marriage she will be going to her in-laws, how will she then play for India? It's being irreverent to this country and its laws," said Thackeray.
Thackeray also expressed surprise over the alacrity with which Sania's family members were granted Pakistani visas.
Commenting on the issue, Thackeray said, "Getting a Pakistani visa is tough even for a singer like Lata Mangeshkar."
23-year-old Sania will settle down with 28-year-old Shoaib in Dubai after their marriage on Apr 15 in Hyderabad.
