New Delhi, Apr 2(ANI): A fire broke out at the residence of former Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Ram Vilas Paswan in the national capital on Friday, gutting two cars in the garage.

Paswan, who had served as an Union Minster under five different Prime Ministers, was in Patna when the incident took place.

According to reports, the blaze was reported from the garage at his 12 Janpath house, and two of his cars, a Honda City and an Audi, were completely destroyed in the fire. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

"Today at 3.20 p.m., the fire control room got information that 12, Janpath has caught fire. Then I sent five fire tenders there. Two cars- Honda City and Audi- parked in an open garage got involved in the fire and were burnt down completely," said Vipin Cantil, Divisional Fire Officer.

"The fire spread further because of the heap of dried leaves lying near the garage," he added.

Last year, a fire had broken out in the same house due to a short circuit, in which several household items were gutted. (ANI)
