ABVP imposes day-long bandh in Bihar
Patna, Apr 1: Protesting against the state government's move to open a unit of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in Kishanganj, Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has called for a day-long bandh in the state.
The dawn to dusk bandh began on Thursday, Apr 1 amid tight security arrangements. Officials have informed that as of now, the bandh has been largely peaceful.
The railway and other transport services, along with vehicular movement have been unaffected. Shops are open in Patna.
Another reason for the bandh is the protest against the police lathicharge on ABVP activists near the secretariat police station last week.
ABVP's call has the support of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) as well as the Bajrang Dal.
