Chennai, Mar 30: The appointment of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi as the chief of the National Advisory Council (NAC) has won the approval of DMK chief and Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi on Tuesday, Mar 30.
Karunanidhi said that the move would be of benefit to the poor section of the country.
"The country, especially the poor and the downtrodden, will stand benefited to a very great extent by your excellent service as chairperson of the Council," Karunanidhi, whose party is a key ally of the UPA, said in a message to Gandhi.
Calling it to be another feather in the cap of the UPA chairperson, Karunanidhi wished Sonia Gandhi 'happy and useful' tenure as the head of NAC.
Sonia Gandhi was appointed as the chairperson of the NAC on Monday, Mar 29.
