JK: Three armymen commit suicide in eight days
Jammu, Mar 27: A Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) committed suicide in his barrack to become the third armyman to take this extreme step in a span of eight days.
The JCO identified as Naib Subedar V S V Naidu killed himself by hanging from the ceiling of his baracks in Domana area. Defence Ministry spokesman Lt Col Biplab Nath told the media that the reason behind the Naidu's step is still unknown.
A court injury has been ordered into the suicide of Naidu, who retuned to duty recently after a three month break.
On Mar 19, JCO Naib Subedar Ganga Ram of 49 Rashtriya Rifles committed suicide by shooting himself at an army barrack in Mendhar belt of Poonch district.
Two days later on Mar 21, Sepoy Raghubir Singh, posted near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district, committed suicide while on duty.
All three suicides were that of the personnel who returned to duty after a long leave.
