New Delhi, Mar 25 (ANI): With a view to promoting women weavers and entrepreneurs, an exhibition displaying creations of craftswomen was organized at the American Centre here on Wednesday.
Organized by the All India Artisans and Craftworkers Welfare Association (AIACA), in association with Self-Employed Women's Association (SEWA), the exhibition featured fourteen craft enterprises representing their states.he exhibition, which ends Saturday, is aimed at providing a platform for women to sell their products, and to enhance their socio-economic status.
"Many women have come from different states and organizations. These organizations give us training and teach us about the market strategy. We felt good that many people came to see the embroidery work. We have sold many items till now," said Shanti, an artisan Karnataka.
The craft enterprises representing different states provide women with raw materials to create their products, and also teach them about marketing and communication skills so that they can interact directly with the public.
"We give them training; we provide them with the raw materials for making the baskets. After they finish making the product, we display them in a showroom, as they don't have a proper outlet to sell their products. We sell their products and provide them money," said Prasad, a craft enterprise from Tamil Nadu. (ANI)
