Moulchand, brother of the deceased, Tekam Das Meghwar, said that his brother apparently slaughtered his three daughters, Parwati, 6, Reena, 4, and Aarti, 1, before slitting his own throat with a sharp knife to impress Kali Mata.
"My deceased brother was Hindu priest of Kali Mata and he performed pooja the whole night but in the early morning when power supply failed he slaughtered his three daughters before committing suicide with a sharp weapon," he said.
According to police, Meghwar regularly performed the religious rituals at the Kali Mata Temple, which he had established on the first floor of his house.
SHO Taluka police Rasool Bux Thaheem said that the bodies of the deceased have been handed over to the family after the post mortem report.
Based on preliminary investigation, investigators said that Meghwar took advantage of his wife, Pavi's absence, whom he had sent bring milk from a nearby shop, to kill his daughters.
Accoding to Pavi when she returned from the shop she found her three daughters dead with her husband lying beside them in a pool of blood.
"When I returned home, I saw heads of three girls in a cradle placed in room. Body of Tekam Das also lay in a pool of blood with his throat slit."
On seeing the gruesome sight, she started screaming hysterically which attracted the neighbours' attention.
Reacting to the incident, another Hindu priest Bhagat Ashok said that what Meghwar did was completely against Hindu religion as it was considered illegal to even offer an animal for sacrifice.
