Injured Tuffey ruled out of second Test against Australia

By Super Admin

Melbourne, Mar 23 (ANI): New Zealand fast bowler Daryl Tuffey has been ruled out of second cricket Test against Australia with a broken left hand.

Tuffey was hit on the hand by paceman Mitchell Johnson in his innings of 47 not out on the final day of first Test loss in Wellington.

Tuffey will have surgery this week in the hope that he can recover in time for the World Twenty20 Cup in the Caribbean starting in late April.

"He has to have surgery and that'll decide how long he'll be out for," The Herald Sun quoted Vettori, as saying.

"I think he's got a broken metatarsal. He's having surgery on Thursday, the New Zealand skipper said.

Vettori said spinner Jeetan Patel would come into consideration for the second Test if the Hamilton pitch looked likely to suit the slower bowlers.

The New Zealand squad will be named on Wednesday for the second Test. (ANI)
