Indian student shot dead in a store robbery in US
Washington, Mar 23: An Indian student was gunned down in a store robbery in Okhlama City in California on Monday, Mar 22.
The victim identified as Prasanth Goinaka was a student of International Technology University at Sunnyvale, California.
28-year Goinaka, hailing from Dilkush Nagar in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh had taken up a part time job in the convenience store just three days before the fatal incident struck.
Two robbers reportedly came into the store as customers around 7: 15 pm, stole the cash from the cash register and shot dead Goinaka before fleeing from the scene.
Oklahoma City Police are probing into the incident. The autopsy report is being awaited.
Prasad Thotakura, executive vice president of the Telugu Association of North America has said that he is keeping in touch with Goinaka's parents, Oklahoma City police department, the Chief Medical Officer and the Indian Consulate authorities.
He said that necessary arrangements are being made to send Goinaka's body to India as soon as possible.
