US House passes landmark Healthcare Bill
Washington, Mar 22: In a huge blow to insurance companies in the United States, the US House of Representatives on Sunday, Mar 21 night, approved the landmark Healthcare Bill, which extends healthcare to 32 million uninsured Americans.
The bill was cleared on a 219-212 vote, with unanimous opposition from the Republicans, who hoped to block the legislation in a bid to impede Barack Obama's domestic agenda.
The healthcare reform was one among Barack Obama's major elections promises.
Obama is expected to sign the Bill as early as Tuesday, Mar 23, say reports.
