Melbourne, March 22 (ANI): Heavy texting on the cell phone proved quite expensive for Annie Levitz - the schoolgirl has lost feeling in her hands and will now have to undergo surgery on both her wrists.

Annie, 16, who used to send over 100 text messages a day from her mobile phone, now finds it difficult to pick up some objects and has to wear braces on both wrists. She also takes pain-killing injections for relief.

According to doctors, Annie has developed carpal tunnel syndrome, wherein nerves in the wrist become trapped. The condition is usually linked to frequent typing on computer keyboards.

"I started losing feeling in my hands and they'd go numb," News.com.au quoted her, as saying.

She added: "I'd go to pick up dishes and things and they'd just fall out of my hands."

Annie, from Chicago, says she has now curt down her habit to 50 texts a day.

She said: "I know it's not good enough, but I am trying.

"It's not even good texts. It's things like, 'Hey, hey, what's up?'"

Annie is now planning to get an iPhone since the touchscreen should make it easier to text. (ANI)
