Tamil Nadu budget presented, no new taxes
Chennai, Mar 19: The Tamil Nadu state budget was present by finance minister K Anbazhagan in the new Assembly-Secretariat complex on Friday, Mar 19.
The Rs 3,396.45 crore deficit budget announced no new taxes. Presenting the fourth budget of the DMK government, the minister announced reduction in taxes on a variety of articles used by the common man.
The budget also proposed increment in the allocations for scheduled castes sub-plan to Rs 3,828 crore from Rs 567 crore. This accounted for the 19 per cent of the total plan outlay.
The allocation for 'Moovalar Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Memorial Assistance", which focuses on women's welfare through assistance, was increased to Rs 25,000 from Rs 20,000.
The expansion of Tamil Nadu State Wide Area Network got Rs 22 crore. The network connects headquarters of various government departments government offices at district, divisional and block levels through internet.
