UP police lodges FIR in Maya 'bee attack' case
Lucknow, Mar 18: Suspecting foulplay behind the presence of bees at the grand Mar 15 Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) rally which was addressed by chief minister Mayawati, the Uttar Pradesh police has lodged an FIR against unknown people alleging controversy to disrupt the rally and create commotion.
Earlier, the BSP supremo expressed suspicion that someone intentionally disturbed the honey bees by lighting a fire under a honeycomb.
“The way the fire spread it can be assumed that it was started by some one. Relating to this a case has been registered--on who started it and what was the motive behind it," Rajeev Krishna, the Deputy Inspector General of Police in Lucknow, told a leading TV news channel, CNN-IBN.
Chief minister Mayawati was the chief guest at the rally, which was held at Rama Bai Rally sthal as part of BSP's silver jubilee anniversary. When she was addressing the gathering, bees kept hovering around her.
Mayawati continued unperturbed by the bees and remarked, "These bees are felicitating us all in our honour."
However, on suspicion of controversy, the UP government ordered a probe into the incident on Monday, Mar 15 itself.
