Hyderabad, Mar 18: In a shocking incident, a 15-year-old girl was set on fire by three men for resisting rape at a house in Sai Nagar near Kushaiguda on Wednesday, Mar 18.
The incident came to light when the locals informed the Kushaiguda police.
“As per the statement of the girl, three persons (all bachelors) tried to rape her at a house in Sai Nagar and when she resisted their attempt they set her ablaze. The incident took place around 11 am," Malkajgiri assistant commissioner of police (ACP) P V Padmaja said.
The victim, who has been admitted to Gandhi Hospital has sustained 60 percent burns and is in critical condition.
The ACP said the victim was reported missing on Mar 9 based on a complain lodged by her father at the Chilkalguda police station.
"On March 9, the victim left home without informing her parents. A missing case was registered at the Chilkalguda police station by her father on the same day," he said.
He added that the victim informed that she had gone with three people who were known to the two bachelors residing in a building near the tea stall where she used to frequent with her friend.
The bachelors befriended her and her friend.
"The girl said she had gone to Vijayawada on March 9 along with three persons. The trio used to frequent their two friends residing in the three-storied multi building at Padmaraonagar," he said.
However, the girl had refused to divulge details on three culprits and when she had returned back to the city.
He added that the special teams have been put into action to arrest the culprits.
Kushaiguda inspector A Muthyam Reddy said that case under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 342 (wrongfully confining a person), 363 (kidnapping) and 376 (rape) r/w 511 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered.
