The entry level petrol and diesel versions are priced at Rs 3.5 lakh and Rs 4.48 lakh respectively.
Speaking at the launch, Ford India Executive Director (Marketing, Sales and Service) Nigel Wark said, “For years, we have been seen as offering only premium priced products in India, and that has kept us as a small player operating in only 20 per cent of the market. With Figo our customers will see a premium product at an affordable price."
The global small car will also be exported from India to other markets. Ford said that South Africa is the initial target.
With this Figo enters the big small car market in India. 72 per cent of the 1.22 million cars sold in the country are small cars.
