TMC to abstain from voting for the Bill in RS
New Delhi, Mar 9: Even as the Women's reservation bill is put to vote in the Rajya Sabha, the Trinamool Congress has decided to abstain from voting on the Bill on Tuesday, Mar 9, media report said.
Miffed at not being taken into confidence with regard to the voting of the Bill, the Trinamool Congress alleged that the government is bull dozing the Bill through the house.
A media report quoted the Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha MP Sudip Bandopadhya as saying that the Bill has to be reworked before being passed in the Lok Sabha.
The party has expressed anger at the absence of an all-party meeting over the Bill.
The Trinamool Congress has 2 MPs in the Rajya Sabha and 19 MPs in the Lok Sabha.
Meanwhile, Congress President Sonia Gandhi has ruled out any threat to the government by the TMC's decision, adding that she would wish its partners to remain with the party.
