Women's Bill introduced in RS, LS; debate to begin
Soon after the Rajya Sabha Chairperson Vice President Hamid Ansari introduced the much awaited Women's Reservation Bill in the house, the opposing factions created a ruckus leading to the house being adjourned till 12 pm.
Similar scenes in the Lok Sabha also forced the speaker to adjourn the house till 12 pm.
The country awaits anxiously as the debate on the Bill is expected to begin soon on the International Women's Day.
The 14-year-old bill provides 33 per cent reservation for women in Lok Sabha and state assemblies.
While SP, BSP, and RJD are objecting to the bill being passed in the current form as they demand for a 'quota within quota' for minorities and backward classes, the Left front and BJP have vowed their support for the bill.
