Nifty ends above the psychological 5,100 mark
Mumbai, Mar 8: After trading strong throughout the session, Nifty closed above the 5,100 mark and Sensex closed above 17,000 mark. Auto, banks, pharma, capital goods, FMCG and IT stocks witnessed buying while the other positive contributors were Infosys, ICICI Bank, L&T, HDFC, Wipro, SAIL and ITC.
BSE Sensex closed at 17,102.60, up 108.11 points while NSE Nifty shud shop at 5124.00, up 35.30 points.
M&M up 4.36 per cent, Hero Honda up 2.86 per cent, ACC up 2.54 per cent, ITC up 2.39 per cent and ICICI Bank up 2.30 per cent were the top gainers on the Sensex.

Nifty continues northbound journey
Nifty continued its post budget winning streak gaining more than 200 points and was trading in a narrow range of 5130-5150 points.
At 12: 52 pm, BSE Sensex was up 185.07 points or 1.09 per cent at 17179.56, and NSE Nifty up 53.40 points or 1.05 per cent at 5142.10.
Among the large caps, Mahindra and Mahindra, ABB, Wipro, ICICI Bank and Ambuja Cements gained 2 to 3 per cent while HUL, PNB, Reliance Infra, Hindalco and Ranbaxy Labs slipped up to 1 per cent.
Future Capital, Mahindra Holidays, Lakshmi Machine, Bombay Dyeing and Phoenix Mills were the midcap gainers while Britannia, JagranPrakashan, DeccanChronicle, Pipavav and Oriental Bank slipped 2 to 6 per cent.

Nifty rangebound; M&M, ICICI, Wipro up
Holding on the early gains, Nifty is trading rangebound between 5120-5140. At 10: 30 am, Sensex was up 155.18 points or 0.91 per cent at 17149.67, and the Nifty was up 43.60 points or 0.86 per cent at 5132.30.
All the BSE sectoral indices were trading in the green.
Among the largecaps, Mahindra and Mahindra, ICICI Bank, Jaiprakash Associates, ABB and Wipro were up 1.5 to 3.5 per cent.
However, PNB, HUL, SBI, BPCL and Bharti Airtel lost 0.1 to 0.7 per cent.
Cigarette major ITC was trading at Rs 247.50 up 1.21 per cent. Index heavyweight Reliance was trading at Rs 1,018.70 up 0.87 per cent.
Among the midcap gainers were Future Capital, Mahindra Holidays, Andrew Yule, Bombay Dyeing and Emami while Britannia, JagranPrakashan, DeccanChronicle, Shriram City and MVL lost.

Mkts open +ve on strong global cues
The Indian markets opened the day in the green riding on back of strong global cues. At 9:04 am, BSE Sensex was up 191.55 points or 1.13 per cent at 17186.04, and NSE Nifty was trading up 48.55 points or 0.95 per cent at 5137.25.
While all Nifty 50 stocks were trading in green, the broader indices, BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices also gained upto 1 per cent each.
The early gainers were Tata Motors, SAIL, Hindalco, Sterlite, Suzlon Energy, ACC, Reliance Communications, Cairn India and ICICI Bank while NMDC plummetted 5 per cent ahead of its FPO.
The top gainers among the midcaps were HT Media, 3M India, GlaxoSmith Consumers, Sobha Developer and Ackruti City, up 3 to 7 per cent while Britannia, Allcargo Global, JagranPrakashan, DeccanChronicle and IBN18 Broadcast lost 1 to 6 per cent.
