Hockey WC 2010: India crash out of semi-final race

New Delhi, Mar 7: England thrashed India 3-2 to reach the semi-finals of the Hockey World Cup on Saturday, Mar 6, at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium here.

It was India's third straight defeat following the lone win over Pakistan in their opening match.

With this defeat, India's marginal hopes of entering the semi-finals of the Hockey World Cup went up in smoke.

Ashley Jackson (42nd and 47th minutes) and James Tindall (16th) of England continued their good show in the tournament, while Gurvinder Singh Chandi (54th) and captain Rajpal Singh (58th) scored for India.

England will compete in their final group match on Monday, Mar 8 against Spain, who fell to a 2-0 defeat against Australia in other Pool B action.
