London, Mar. 5 (ANI): England striker Peter Crouch, who hit two more goals for England against Egypt on Wednesday, insisted that he deserves to be in Fabio Capello's World Cup squad this summer.
After taking his tally to an incredible 20 goals in 37 games, the Tottenham man was praised by Capello, and it is almost certain he has booked his place on the plane to South Africa.
"Hopefully, my goals record will help me. Emile has done extremely well in the qualifying campaign. We qualified with flying colours and he was a major part of that," The Sun quoted him, as saying.
"Personally, I have always felt that when I have played I have never let anyone down. I would love to be up there and starting games. But that is obviously a decision for the anager," he added.
Now, Capello has to decide who will partner Rooney in South Africa.
"Obviously, if the manager is talking about playing one up front then everyone knows it's going to be Wayne Rooney with the form he's currently in," he said.
"If he's playing two up front, there's another place up for grabs. He has a bundle of strikers, really, who are desperate to be up there. I am just one of those."
"No one wants to sit on the bench all the time. Everyone wants to be starting. When you are on the bench, you just come on and try to make an impact," he added. (ANI)
