Pro-Telangana lawyers stage protest at Hyd airport
Hyderabad, Mar 4: Ahead of the arrival of members of Sri Krishna Committee, which have been appointed to look into the Telanagan issue, the pro-Telangana laywers staged a protest at the airport on Thursday, Mar 4.
Shouting slogans like 'Srikrishna Committee go back' and 'Jai Telangana', the lawyers forced themself inside the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport premises and attempted to stage a sit-in.
However, the police arrested them before they could do so.
In protest against the arrests, SP workers led by former MP Chote Lal Yadav staged a demonstration infront of inspection house and have reportedly squatted on the PWD trisection raising anti-government slogans.
Briefing about the Commitee plan, panel's Member-Secretary Vinod K Duggal said that the visit was an introductory one.
"This visit is purely an introductory one. The entire committee will travel to Hyderabad and discuss with the state government officials about the facilities we need and other things," Duggal said.
Earlier the pro-Telangana laywers staged a massive protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. Some of them were arrested for breaching police restrictions while trying to make it to the parliament.
Meanwhile, the Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) has appealed for a 'peaceful protest' against Committee's two-day visit starting from Thursday, Mar 4.
