Islamabad, Mar.3 (ANI): Pakistan Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir is likely to replace Hussain Haqqani as the country's Ambassador to the United States.
According to sources, Pakistan's Envoy to China Masood Khan will be replacing Bashir.
The government is not happy with Haqqani's handling of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui's case and has made up its mind to replace him, The Nation reports.
Haqqani had faced severe criticism over the inclusion of some stern conditions in the Kerry Lugar bill, but he somehow succeeded to avert the pressure by using some influential political connections.
However, this time around he is unlikely to prevent himself from being axed from the post, as the Gilani government is under tremendous pressure to sack him after he failed to secure the afe return of Siddiqui, the Al-Qaeda terror suspect who is currently languishing in a US jail and has been charged of firing at US officials in Afghanistan.(ANI)
