Mumbai: Drunk driving claims one more life

Mumbai, Mar 3: Months after Nooriya Haveliwala become the face of drunken driving, yet another incident has been reported in the city.

A drunk insurance company employee reportedly crashed into a 18-year-old youngster, killing him on Wednesday, Mar 3. The police has identified the victim as Panda Paswan.

After the accident, the culprit fled the scene abandoning the car on the spot. The driver's documents, including insurance papers, were recovered from the car leading to the arrest of the accused.

The police has identified the accused as 36-year-old Niranjan Shetty, who was arrested from Mira Road residence.

Shetty was reportedly driving home from a party when the accident took place. He was under the influence of alcohol, said Inspector Deepak Kathkade.

Paswan, who was working at a Chinese stall, was hit from behind at around 1 am.

The driver later hit an auto rickshaw and ended the crash spree by ramming into a bus stop.

The police who rushed to the spot took the injured to the hospital, where Paswan was declared dead.
