Congress asks Tharoor to measure his words
New Delhi, Mar 3: After drawing severe criticism for his statement on making Saudi Arabia the intelocutor between India and Pakistan, Union Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor has reportedly been advised by his party to measure his words, media reports said.
The meeting between Tharoor and the chairman of the media department, Janardan Dwivedi on Tuesday, Mar 2 is seen as more than courtesy call, though both maintained that the meeting was scheduled a week ahead of the Minister"s visit to Saudi Arabia with Prime Minister.
Judging by the fact that the meeting is being held just days after the controversial statement, Tharoor's visit to the Congress headquarters has given rise to speculation that the Minister has been called by the party to advise him on measuring his words.
However, Dwivedi said that the party had nothing to advise on minister as he has already clarified the matter.
"Please do not read anything into this meeting; it is routine for the Congress Ministers and MPs to visit their party headquarters," Dwivedi said.
