Hamas commander drugged before murder: Police
Dubai, Mar 1: In a significant development on the Hamas murder case, Dubai police on Sunday, Feb 28 said that the Hamas commander was drugged before being suffocated by his killers.
Police said that the murder of the Hamas military commander Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Feb 2010 in his hotel room was the act of by Israel's Mossad spy agency.
The Dubai police website quoted the deputy police chief Khamis al-Mazeina as saying that the killers had used a muscle
relaxant to tranquillize Mabhouh before suffocating him.
"The assassins used this method so that it would seem that his death was natural as there were no signs of resistance shown
by the victim," he said.
Dubai authorities said that 26 alleged members of the team that tracked and killed the Palestinian are behind the incident,
adding that they operated in disguise and used fraudulent British, Irish, French, German and Australian passports.
People who share the same with the suspects in Israel have complained of their identies being stolen.
The European Union have come up with strong criticism against the passport abuse, while the Israeli ambassadors have been called to their countries by some governments involved to protest.
Meanwhile, Israel has neither denied nor confirmed it its role in the incident role but its foreign minister came out in denial behind the killing.
