London, Feb 25(ANI): Chelsea has been fuming over the referee blunder, which ruined their Champions League game against Inter Milan at San Siro.

Chelsea striker Salomon Kalou was tripped in the area by Inter defender Walter Samuel just before half-time, which Blues manager Carlo Ancelotti claimed was a penalty, but Spaniard Manuel Gonzalez waved play on.

In the first leg of their league last 16 tie, Milan walked away with 2-1 victory thanks to goals from Diego Milito and Esteban Cambiasso.

"I am sure it was a penalty, but the referee did not blow his whistle and I don't want to talk about him. I know he is a very good referee with a lot of experience but we were very unlucky and I hope we will have better fortune in the return game," The Sun quoted Ancelotti, as saying.

"We played very well but this is not the result we had hoped for.

We attacked all game and we will do the same at Stamford Bridge. We have a good chance to go through," he added.

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard also insisted that it was a penalty for his club and a red card for Samuel would have made a massive difference.

"Salomon is sure he was tripped but what can we do? Maybe we deserved better, but hopefully, the crucial decisions will go our way in London," he said.

Meanwhile, Inter Milan manager Jose Mourinho said that the game was a classic Champions League game and he did not see the penalty incident.

"I will have to control my emotions at Stamford Bridge and try to stay professional like tonight but it will not be easy for me. In the tunnel before the game, it will not be a normal match for me or for the Chelsea players," Mourinho said.

"I expect people will be very pleased to see me because we were so happy when we were together. It will be strange for me to go to a different dressing room and be in the away dug-out," he added. (ANI)
