Delhi-Howrah Janta express looted in Bihar
Patna: In an ironic start to the presentation of the Railway Budget in the parliament by Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee, Delhi-Howrah Janta Express train has been looted by armed robbers near Jamui in Bihar, media reports said on Wednesday, Feb 24.
Passengers on board train No. 3039 between Lakhisarai and Mankattha railway stations in Bihar were reportedly robbed of their valuables worth Rs 1.5 lakh cash, including thier luggages at around 4:30 am.
The robbery is believed to be carried out by eight men.
A media report said that a case in the Mokameh Railway Police Station has been registered.
The incident took place as the railway minister is expected to concentrate on railway security among others in her railway budget presentation.
