Price Rise: LS, RS adjourned till Feb 24
New Delhi, Feb 23: The spiraling prices created a storm in Parliament on the second day of the Budget session leading to adjournment of both the houses for the day.
Both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha were on Tuesday, Feb 23 adjourned till 11 am Wednesday, Feb 24.
Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar had adjourned the house till 12 noon. However, when the situation remained chaotic, she was forced to adjourn the house for the day.
The Congress-led UPA government faced the heat from the Opposition parties as they accused the government of failing to check the price rise.
BJP has given a notice for adjournment motion. The Opposition demanded a discussion on price rise under Rule 193. This means that a voting will be held at the end of discussion.
The government said it was ready for a discussion. It, however, did not agree to Rule 193 citing that it would lengthened the proceedings.
Rajya Sabha saw similar scenes. It was adjourned for a few minutes before seeing adjournment for the day. The Opposition here has also demanded discussion under Rules 167 and 168.
