Kiwi batsman Taylor confirms IPL security concerns

By Super Admin

Auckland, Feb 23(ANI): New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor has confirmed that players are concerned about their security during the Indian Premier League.

Taylor said New Zealand Cricket Players' Association manager Heath Mills is not convinced about some security arrangements, and wants more information, Stuff.co.nz reports.

The 25-year-old further confirmed that he will leave his decision to as late as possible before deciding whether to travel to India or not.

Taylor is among with six New Zealand players who have contracts ranging from 400,000 dollars to 750,000 dollars, and they stand to lose millions if they refuse to travel.

The other players are Daniel Vettori, Brendon McCullum, Shane Bond, Jacob Oram, Scott Styris and Stephen Fleming.

The IPL is one of three sporting events in India being specifically targeted by Al-Qaeda along with the hockey world cup and the October Commonwealth Games.

The problem plaguing the IPL is the breadth of the competition -60 matches in 12 different venues, making it more vulnerable. (ANI)
