Fire at Bangalore's Carlton Towers
Bangalore, Feb 23: A massive fire broke out in the third floor of a multi stotey office building, Carlton Towers in Bangalore, killing three and trapping many office goers on Tuesday, Feb 23 evening.
At least three people are believed to have dead due to the fire as they panicked and jumped out from the fifth and sixth floors of the building.
Carlton Towers, located on the Old Airport Road, house many IT and other offices. The are is a commercial complex and a busy office area.
More over the fire hit the heart of silicon city sparking off major traffic snarls at the peak hours in the evening.
While five are feared to be dead, all others stranded in the building have been saved. “All the people have been saved", DG, Fire dept, told the media. He also confirmed five people have jumped off the building. An eyewitness also said that most of the inmates had been rushed out.
Now the fire department officials and Police personals are checking the building room by room to find out whether somebody is stranded inside. Fire broke out in the old airport road Building at 4.30 pm. Karnataka IG P S Sandhu said the fire started due to an electric short-circuit.
